We believe in producing high quality videos that will stand the test of time. We also understand that getting a professional crew isn’t realistic or safe during these times - so we’re going to empower you to capture your family stories on your own schedule in your own home.
We’ve put together a kit with all the tips & equipment you need to create a quality interview that you and your family will cherish for years to come.
The kit also comes with rental equipment - get in touch to learn more!
Here are some answers to questions about our in-person filming experiences.
What is a film date? Can I get more than one? A full film date means you will have the crew available to shoot film for 4-5 hours of film. Whether you want to use that time concentrating on one person, two, or three is up to you. If you believe that you weren't able to capture all your stories in one film date, then we will be happy to come again to record again (inquire within for pricing).
Can I bring friends and family to watch the shoot? We do not recommend it. Additional people means additional opportunities for sound interruptions. For the sound quality to be professional, we need there to be absolute silence in our location. Additionally, people who are interviewed tend to be more relaxed when they aren't speaking in front of an audience.
What will be provided? We will have a camera operator, sound equipment, lighting equipment, and two cameras (for different angles), along with the interviewer and producer who will be there to facilitate the shoot.
Are two cameras necessary? Yes. When we want to cut out an awkward pause, during the editing process, we can use footage from a different angle to make a seamless edit.
Will you come to my home? Possibly. Once we have settled who is getting interviewed, we would like to pick a location that is suitable for them. However, that location has to have good acoustics. If possible, we would like to conduct a location scout to make sure your home, or their home is suitable.
Where will published videos go? Can I opt out? We believe strongly in the importance of sharing our community’s stories. Professionally filmed and edited videos will be featured on our website and social media, among others. If video privacy is an issue, we are happy to discuss further prior to filming.
What kind of questions are asked? We have an interview guide with questions that ask about the beginning of one's life to the present day. We can provide a sample of questions upon request. During the pre-interview process, when our interviewer will call the person to be interviewed, we will determine which questions to include, and which to leave out. If there are particular stories you want captured, please let us know ahead of the pre-interview and we will be sure to guide the interview so that the desired story is recorded.
